![]() What It Is Workplace giving is a method of donating to various charities through your employer. Employees donate to charitable organizations of their choice, primarily through payroll pledges. These pledges are almost always pre-tax and employees can pick and choose the charities they feel best represent their world viewpoint. How Do I? Workplace giving is simple, and involves little more than a pledge sheet where you choose your charity(ies) and a dollar amount you wish to donate to them. Your donation will then be taken through payroll deduction. You can participate in Workplace Giving in one of three major ways: If you work for one of the many government agencies around the country, you can find CSC and our member groups listed in the campaign catalog. If you're unsure where to find it, ask your employer and they'll be happy to give you the catalog. Once you have found us, write our code number, and/or any of the code numbers of the specific charities that belong to our federation, on the pledge sheet. If you work for one of many companies that include CSC in your workplace giving campaign, find CSC on your payroll pledge form and choose it (or any of our sepcific member charities) as your donation target. If CSC is listed by your employer in your workplace giving campaign, or your company does not provide this option, you can designate CSC and/or our member groups in the "Specific Organization" section of your United Way pledge form. Why Should I Donate Through Payroll Deduction? There are many reasons why you should donate through payroll deduction: All you have to do is find a charity or federation you wish to support and then make a note of it on your pledge sheet. You don't have to participate in telethon's, go on walks, or raise funds by selling cookies. It's a quick little notation on a piece of paper, and your charities will recieve their donations. It's also a once a year thing, making it the most efficent form of donating. Raising funds through payroll deduction is much cheaper for charities that direct mail, phone calls, or credit card donations. As payroll deductions have the least amount of fundraising costs, the maximum amount of your donation goes directly to programs and services. CSC charities are held to a very strict standard and are screened each year. This way you know your donations are going to legitimate charities who will manage their funds properly and ensure that their causes will recieve the maximum support possible. |
